Brief

Best Of Breed approached us to create some promotional images for a campaign surrounding Flu vaccines.

We were tasked with sculpting 4 clay-mation style characters in 3D - the Pharmacist, Nurse, Buyer and Health Practitioner. 

Not quite Wallace and Gromit but close right?!

Behind the scenes

To keep things simple and ensure maximum re-use, we decided to repurpose a master asset with various clothing, hairstyles, and accessories. This allowed us to spin up four characters in record time, all sharing the same cohesive look and feel. Skin tone, height, and limb thickness could all be tweaked too - meaning we had every base covered.

Our rigs were flexible enough for some satisfying squash-and-stretch animation, and to capture the charm of real claymation, we animated at a lower frame rate, stepping keys from carefully posed keyframes.

With some fingerprint textures and clay look-dev, we were pretty happy with our plasticine crew!
