THE BEGINNERS GUIDE

Brief

For the launch of the 2025 LIV Golf League, we created a turbo-charged animation to explain how the tournament works. We went big, combining 2D and 3D elements to bring stylized golf courses, heroic golfers, and the thrill of each swing to life.

Designed to inform existing fans and introduce new ones to the game, the result is a fast-paced, visually rich explainer that makes LIV’s evolving format feel as exciting as the sport itself.

Behind the scenes

This project was a blast. We were immediately inspired by the bold and colourful branding of the LIV Golf League - luminous teals, electric pinks and vibrant purples. Using the colour guide, we set about creating a sequence of frames to depict each moment of the script, making sure to highlight key players and stats throughout. Even at this early stage, the designs felt dynamic and eye catching- a sure sign we were on to a winner.

With the story blocked out, character designs in place, and a colour script mapping out every beat of the film, our 2D and 3D departments got to work. Characters were animated frame by frame, while environments, props, and camera moves were handled in 3D.

Everything was stitched together in comp so you couldn’t tell the difference - the 2D animation was tracked in alongside the 3D frames. Every iteration of the edit brought a satisfying boost in quality, building momentum as we approached launch day.

Shout out to Zelig Sound, who composed a killer track and SFX to tie it all together!
